Who was Michelle then?
Michelle Anne Akers is a great American player, who played in the historic Women’s World Cup wins of 1991 and 1999 by the United States. She won the Golden Boot as the top scorer of the 1991 tournament, scoring 10 times in the competition.
Did you know that? In 2004, Akers and Mia Hamm were the only women named to FIFA 100, a list of the 125 greatest live footballers compiled by the great Brazilian Pelé to celebrate the 100th anniversary of FIFA.
