Who is Shelda Bede?
Shelda Kelly Bruno Bede, born January 1, 1973 in Fortaleza, is a Brazilian beach volleyball player, double Olympic medalist and double world champion in her discipline.
With her partner, Adriana Behar, she quickly dominated this discipline and ended up earning twice as much money on the world circuit as any other women's team. The two young Brazilians won the 1999 world championships and were the favorites for the Olympic Games in 2000. After winning their first four matches, they faced in the final, in Bondi Beach, the Australians Natalie Cook and Kerri Pottharst, whom they have beaten 14 times in 17 games. Although leading in both sets, Shelda Bede and Adriana Behar will have to bow.
In 2001, they will return to success by being crowned world champions again. They become the first beach volleyball team to win a medal at two editions of the Olympic Games.
